Start
Tumbles at Portobello, 20 Westbank Street, Edinburgh, EH15 1DR, Scotland.
Easy parking and about 200m walk to the water across the promenade. Watch walkers and cyclists. It's a sandy beach and very sheltered therefor giving the illusion of flat conditions. It's possible to use the facilities in Tumbles when they are open. When launching paddle approximately 2km towards the Inchkeith Island and until you get a visual of one or all of the Forth Bridges to the left before turning for the downwind. Aim for the Hopetoun Monument on top of Garleton Hill.
Finish
Longniddry Bents Car Park No 3
Longniddry Bents carpark is in line with Hopetoun Monument. You may encounter a lot of kite surfers as you near the finish. Look out for low lying rocks to the left of the landing spot. There are toilet facilities and if you're lucky there is a Fish & Chip Van.

Weather & more
This run works best staying a good distance offshore. It's very easy to be lured in towards land by swell. It will get messy around Port Seton and you're guaranteed a much nicer run staying further out. Works best on a Westerly from around 20km/ph upwards. It works best on an ebbing tide but can be done at pretty much any tide state.
Apres paddle
A visit to Miro's Bistro, Portobello afterwards is a must
